Kim Delaney is an American actress best known as the character detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered an Emmy Award. Her most well-known role is her part on All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of her homemaker mother and high-ranking executive of the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood with 4 brothers. In childhood, Delaney dreamed about becoming a court reporter. She began modelling at the age of 14 and later landed commercials when she moved into New York. In 1981, she starred as an innocent teen in All My Children. Delaney's career has been filled with numerous television films and dramas. Her professional career has been much more lucrative than her personal life. She has also experienced two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with alcoholism. In 2005, the actress was denied custody over her one son.
