Selena

She was a performer, designer and a music pioneer. Her ethnicity was Mexican American, however she was also traditional. She brought Tejano to mainstream culture. Much like with a bright and genial star passes away far too early, her untimely demise caused her to lose the popularity she had been gaining. Many mourned all of its untapped potential. Over the years, the fans became motivated to do their best in order to ensure that her successes would not fade away. Her death in a shooting triggered emotions in the Latino society that could be likened with Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena was a hugely popular Latino artist across North America. Her music transcended boundaries and brought joy to younger and more mature adults. Selena may have been hailed by certain people as a Latina Madonna, however she is still a great example to follow. Selena's values of family life offstage as well as her involvement with AIDS awareness campaigns make her a good example.
